Family Guy is an American animated series revolving around the quirky antics of the Griffin family and their friends. The Griffins adventures consist of time travel, stealing movies from Mel Gibson and even cheating death multiple times. After being canceled in 2001, the syndicated reruns obtained such high ratings that the series was revived with new episodes in 2004.
Although it is an animated series, it has many jokes and gestures directed to entertain adults. Family Guy reruns are in syndication during the Adult Swim section of the cartoon channel, which airs during the evening. The new episodes of Family Guy is a part of the Fox channels Animation Domination on Sundays, which is a two hour block consisting of four animated series targeting the same audiences.
Family Guy contains many adult situations and scenarios. It has received much criticism regarding the time it airs on TV. Many question whether or not the show should it be aired later in the evening. Why does one channel schedule the show for late night while another keeps it scheduled during prime time viewing hours? What-s the difference in the exact same episode that is censored on one channel and not the other?
