“Independence - is loyalty to one's best self and principles, and this is often disloyalty to the general idols and fetishes.”
- Mark Twain

The 2008 Director’s Chair Island Arts Expo strives to applaud the independent filmmakers, photographers, musicians and artists of Staten Island and to bring attention to the growing arts and culture scene in the downtown area. Through a series of performances, exhibitions and networking opportunities, “All Things Indy” will give Island artists, whatever their medium, an opportunity to be recognized by their peers, exposed to a larger audience, and injected into a blossoming lifeline of culture emerging throughout our borough, most notably in our up and coming downtown area.

CTV is proud to be the presenting sponsor for this third annual festival and will be carrying coverage of the week’s events as well as first-run, independent films and in-studio interviews and performances LIVE starting Monday, October 20th on one of our community access channels (Time Warner Cable Channel 57). The week’s festivities will culminate on Sunday, October 26th at 5PM with our awards ceremony.

The Film Festival, the expo’s feature event, will award local filmmakers for cinematography, acting, editing, and more and will honor Staten Island’s best young filmmaker (under 18) and documentary artist.

Specific event and ticketing information to follow. For more information visit: www.thedirectorschairtv.com or www.sictv.org.
