Gone are the days of good old fashion TV, when The Cosby Show and Give Me a Break were popular. Although things have changed, there are several family friendly shows that are on TV. Some of the seasonal favorites such as American Idol and America’s Got Talent draw millions of viewers. These shows are great to watch with children, because you do not have to worry about foul language or inappropriate sexual content.
Some of the new sitcoms have not rated so well. However, Melissa and Joey seem to be a new hopeful sitcom that is doing good. It has a cute story line and is family friendly. The entire premise for the show is Melissa-s niece has to move in with her. The niece-s mom has landed herself in prison. This show portrays a current reality on how families now days operate. The struggles, which she has with her child and niece, are believable and easy to relate to.
It has been on the air for years, but Amazing Home Makeovers with Ty Pennington, is still a great family show. It shows kids what great things can be done to help those in need. It also demonstrates that not every kid has every toy they want, some struggle for necessities. While it is just a glimpse into poverty in America, it is a good lesson to children as well as a fun program to watch.
Good Luck Charlie, seems to have rave reviews as the first old style family sitcom, in a long time. This sitcom features a mom of 3 older kids having a new baby. It focuses on the struggles of raising the four children and uses humor to captivate its audiences. Because it is on the Disney Channel, it has a good rating for kids. While not all shows are like the olden days, by doing some research one can still find appropriate shows for the whole family to watch.
